Did you know infinite was infinite?

WOO! The band trip totally rocked my flip flops!! There were definitely some downers but overall I really had a blast. It will a band trip to remember fo sho! I'm really busy still with makeup work and whatnot so I haven't had much time to spend online. First it was the stat project, then the calc test, then the English timed writing, then the sociology project, and now stat and sociology tests. Every night I get something new to stress over. Stress is a funny thing. I only feel it right at the last moment. And then it's a lot so it helps me focus and get the job done well. Hey - I do stress relieving yoga rountines, so my heart's still good for a while. But I digress. Back to the topic of the band trip... More will come about my experiences. If I can find time.

Plan for tomorrow: veg out and enjoy my friggen Friday! Screw you education! Fridays rock despite English mulitple choice tests, mind-boggling calculus problems, gay Bach corales, and sociology/stat makeup tests. Tomorrow is going to be one heck of a long day.

Plans for the weekend: apply to more colleges and for more moola, write about my experiences on the band trip, read the stupid story for English, clean my room *cough cough*, work on my new solo, sleep, party for my grandpa's 93 birthday today, party for my cousin's return from the service in Korea for a year, and sleep some more. Sounds like a plan huh?

Kristen: "Rachel's hair doesn't just look like a grape; it smells like one too! Go ask her if you can smell it!"

Mrs. Brand on what infinite means: "Infinite is... infinite. Some math professor at some major university probably just fell out of his chair."

P.S.: Happy Birthday Grandpa!! And Welcome Home JR!!

Where There's Smoke, There's the Gaither Band

Friday was nothing short of awesomeness. Pep Rally Day! Every period was shortened. Even calculus flew by. It was amazing. After calculus the entire rest of the day was band, band, band, and more band. Non-stop band. Wind ensemble with my killer solos, then lunch, then wasted all of sixth period sitting in the gym warming up, and then the pep rally. I have to admit - this has been one of the better pep rallies in a long while. There were news cameras all over. We did suicide!! YES! Maybe this will be my last time for forever. But I think I said that last time. Who knows? Matt Dolson did some break dancing stuff and Showcase performed. The coolest part was getting the check from Steinbrenner. Yay for money!

So after that ordeal jazz band had a sound check or rather attempted to have a sound check. We were running through the pieces and the sound/light techs were having issues. They couldn't get the lights to work right. Then all of a sudden all the lights went out at once and it was pitch black. The sound guy was shouting that it wasn't him this time and Andrew screamed that everyone should watch their wallets. Eventually the emergency lights came on. And then went the fire alarm. I figured it was just some electrical problem and the alarm was going off by accident. Denim Steve told me to go find Nevismal and bring back a multimeter. Running through a vacated, pitch black school was scary as heck. All the doors were closed because of the fire alarm and the only light was from the windows and doors. I couldn't find Nevismal but eventually ran into Mr. Strapp which was freaky. You run into a huge black man in the dark and tell me how your heart handles it! So as I was calmly walking back to the auditorium I heard Stapp's walkie-talkie say that there was smoke coming from one of the a/c handlers on the roof, the fire department was dispatched, and everyone should get out of the building. I found the auditorium deserted except for James. I was overcome with relief that I was no longer alone in the dark. Dell came in and screamed at us and on the way out we were blinded by a veil of ominous smoke. I thought I was going to have an asthma attack right then and there. Outside two firetrucks and an ambulance showed up. I am now a firm believer in Murphy's Law. Our band is forever doomed to be screwed over.

Dell told us to report back at six because the concert starts at seven. Dellio finally bothered to show up at around 6:50. We weren't allowed back in the auditorium so we decided to go play at Crispers. It was really hectic trying to get power for my amp and a keyboard for Dreamboat, but in the end we managed and we rocked. I really liked playing there better because the audience was a lot closer and you could really watch them watch you. I wonder how much money we ended up making. James was truly a phenomenal player and I will never forget this experience. I regret not telling him thanks and goodbye.

I starting to get excited about the band trip. I hope that everything comes together nicely soon. Everything seems so crazy and outrageous at the moment. I already have a truck load of stat homework and I fear what is to come in calculus. I'm having trouble grasping the concept that my grades don't matter anymore. Did they ever really matter? I still want what I've always wanted right? Be successful and lazy simultaneously. That's me. Would it kill me to get a C? Probably not, but it might kill my parents or rather coerce them into killing me.

Thank You Lord for a three day weekend. The rest of it will be very busy fo sho. Homework in everything, a stat project, a calc test on Tues, band practice for four hours Monday, and on top of all that I have to pack!!

First Post in 2005!!

Wow. Another year gone by. Another year starting fresh. Sorry I haven't posted in a while. I actually did on Jan 1 but I hit the publish button without realizing my internet connection had died. So I lost all I had written. The end of my vacation was awesome. The beginning of school was ok. I guess.

Here's the week in review:

1st per practical arts general: nothing new. Still Dellio's TA. I am still maintaining a steady relationship with the copy machine. Good times.

2nd per English: to my relief we've wasted the entire week watching Catch-22, the worst movie on God's green and blue earth. I swear! The worst part is that we can't fast forward so we have to watch the commercials. But it's better than work. So I'm happy. But then again I'm not - made two "B"s - semester average: "B".

3rd/4th per calc: fun fun fun. Woo! Learning new stuff. Moving way too fast. I went up to the board. :-( She also made me read 5 paragraphs. I hate reading aloud. I'm a bad reader/speaker. I actually sort of in a sick way enjoy what we are doing now. It's refreshing to actually have a class that is my level where I'm challenged.

5th per band: so far ok. I really enjoyed sightreading. Dell gave a truly moving speech the first day back that made me excited for a short period of time. My enthusiasm has since died down and now I'm good. Some students from LSU came in one day and played with us. I had a hot guy next to me. Just my luck. Too bad I didn't get his number. Jazz band went well. I'm really excited about our concert. It's really going to rock. Or at least I am. We have a lot of new music. And sometimes my part is ridiculously hard, but the challenge is welcomed whole heartedly. We've had a lot of news crews visit us recently. And I was on TV! WOO! Lol. More reporters and cameras are on the way. We've been having a lot of after school and weekend practices lately and they aren't stopping anytime soon. I'm such a band geek. I need to get a life.

6th per sociology: awesome! Yay for a new class with a super cool teacher! I'm liking it so far. Mrs. Whitworth seems to really know what she's doing and it's impressive. I don't really know anyone in that class though. So that sucked. The name game sucked too. It's so funny how easily and often we go off onto different tangents. Someone mentioned fat Texicans and then we spent a half hour talking about German beer. It's really quite entertaining.

7th per stats: stats is stats. Supposedly we are moving faster now, so maybe the boredom will no longer prevail. Nothing's changed. I would like a change. Don't ask me what. I guess one thing has: new books! Sweetness! My old book was Biren's so it was practically new. Aww now I miss Biren. F him lol. I like my new book. I think. Why does Curtis insist on giving us a ton of problems, splitting them up, and making them due on separate dates? Is she aware I don't do deadlines well? This is going to kill me because I won't remember. Thank you Lord (or rather Curtis) for only making them worth 7.5%. Yay for yet another sucky stat project!

So one week down, a ton more to go. I hope this year doesn't fly by too fast. I would like to slow down a tad and enjoy my last few months as a senior. Why do I have to be so old God? Why?

So anyways softball tournament started today! We won our first game and then lost the second game by one point. The first team we played was really really good. They won their first game 19-1. I'm glad I didn't know before we played them because I would have freaked. I did pretty well overall. I think I only missed one throw and never got tagged or thrown out. I made some great catches and hits. One triple. Got on base everytime. Scored three or four times. What an awesome start to the season! I can't wait for our next game Tuesday night! This is Marcy the love bug signing out.
